As we look at this week’s spiritual, “Lord I Want To Be A Christian,” the slaves who wrote the lyrics understood that the love that Jesus was offering was different from the love that they were seeing in action.

The love mentioned is the love that eradicates injustice, one that shows up and is present to others, even in the messiness of life. It is our charge to show that kind of love to others.
